He was just a Quran teacher when Italian forces brutally invaded Libya and he formed a strong militia group resisting them in the 1930s. He was captured and hanged to death in the public on 16th September 1931.The legendary freedom fighter was popularly known as ‘The Lion of The Desert’ and was also respected by his captors for his piousness and spiritual strength while in prison at the age of 73. RADWA ASHOUR Radwa Ashour was born in El-Manial[2] to Mustafa Ashour, a lawyer and literature enthusiast, and Mai Azzam, a poet and an artist. She graduated from Cairo University with a BA degree in 1967. In 1972, she received her MA in Comprehensive Literature from the same university.
